The latest release from the up-and-coming Australian quintet, and taken from forthcoming debut album Shadows Evolve, this is one of those tracks that sounds achingly familiar without you quite being able to put a finger on why.
With a definite air of The Dandy Warhols and a hint of Sonic Youth this is a fun slice of mid-tempo psychedelic guitar rock. The tracks begins with a delicious little faux-intro and then builds up to the loud guitars and throbbing base that you can guarantee we're going to be hearing a lot more of. The listener is treated to a surprising lull in the middle that could almost trick you into believing the thickly grooved onslaught is at an end before the whole ensemble kicks off again into its barely audible lyrics.
The downside of this record is that with the absence of a hook there's nothing there to really grab the consciousness. It's a good track that you can't help tapping your foot to, but it's totally transient, and there are a lot of bands producing this type of music. That being said, it's one that you'll certainly enjoy hearing and the album is eagerly awaited. This is unquestionably a band to keep an eye on.
