The Most Terrifying Thing - Things Always Change

buy music

The Most Terrifying Thing are a Liverpool four piece, but don't let that sway you into believing they can be bracketed in with the tuneful pop the city is usually associated with. This lot whack up the guitars, injecting a toughness into their music that's straight from the west coast - Seattle, in fact.

Things Always Change starts with a promising, ballsy riff but unfortunately subsides somewhat, plodding on resiliently but losing some of its appeal along the way, not entirely convincing with the sudden burst of noise that signals the chorus.

Singer Chris Price has a decent voice though, and the wall of sound supporting him gives plenty of weight to the heavier moments. The angst-ridden lyrics, Price proclaiming; "I want it so much it makes me sick", are a bit tiresome, and the music may need more impetus, but there's still enough here to deem their forthcoming album worthy of a spin.
