At some time most of us have made a list of songs we want played at our funeral. Some of us (usually those with black hair and heavy make up) have probably written them down on a scroll and placed them in a glass cabinet. On the other side of that oh so miserable coin, are those of us who'd swear they'd like their funereal blaze of glory to be something along the lines of Dancing Queen: these are exactly the people you'd like to see dead and buried anyway.
Reading the last page of a book in case you die before you finish it, or creating a playlist of internment songs doesn't make you deep or interesting - not now My Little Problem have pushed the boat out. All These Things is the kind of song you'd want playing while you spend your last hours breathing through tubes in a hospital wing. That this song makes you think in this way still doesn't make you deep or interesting, but it does up the ante somewhat.
The gentle folk guitar, the mournful trumpet, the whispered backing vocals, and the perfect vocals of Simon Janes are both comforting and melancholic. It's a truly moving and haunting song.
My Little Problem should be one of the bands we're all talking about this year. Unless that is, you're breathing your last in a hospital ward; in which case you should be figuring out how to fit this 8 piece into the room so you can have a perfect send off whilst you change your mind about that Abba track you wanted as the coffin descends.
