This young quartet from Barry, South Wales are being touted for big things and their second EP certainly has bags of energy and a distinctive sound.
Lead track Knock Me Down is the highlight of the four tracks on offer here, being a pleasingly loud offering of punky garage that Jack White would be proud of. The other three tracks don't quite match up to Knock Me Down, but demonstrate lead singer's Russell Toomey's frankly barmy vocal style.
However, at a time when garage rock-blues is at a premium, My Red Cell are going to have to offer something substantially different to stand out from the likes of The Von Bondies and The Stills.
