Ten years ago, if you'd said that a former Neighbours star could easily morph into a credible singer, you'd have been laughed at. Back then, Kylie was still a bit of a joke, and we were still shuddering at the memory of Stefan Dennis asking us 'don't it make ya feel good?'....
Yet the erstwhile Beth Brennan has banished all thoughts of Ramsey Street from our mind now, and this year celebrates a decade since her debut single Torn was such a success. To mark the occasion, she's releasing a 'greatest hits' next month, and Glorious is one of those slightly annoying tracks that will be tagged on the end to persuade completists to buy the album.
It's typical Imbruglia really - classily played and beautifully sung with a nicely catchy chorus. Yet, in common with those other 'new' tracks on a Greatest Hits set, it pales in comparison to her earlier material. It feels a bit 'by-the-numbers' really - nice enough, but it doesn't tug at the heartstrings in the same manner as That Day or Shiver. If you've not bought any of Imbruglia's previous albums, save your money and wait for the Singles Collection in a couple of weeks.
