Hip-pop superstar Nelly is about to do what no other rapper has done before, and that's to drop two albums on one day. Sweat and Suit is an audacious experiment that looks set to confirm the St Louis artist's status as a juggernaut in the industry.
There's no better way to introduce the albums than to release a double-A side with, surprise surprise, one track from each record. From Sweat comes Flap Your Wings, a Neptunes production. Unfortunately this falls wide of the mark, showing that Chad and Pharrell can only go so far on their reputations alone. Resting on their laurels will produce garbage like this.
As for My Place / Flap Your Wings, a reworking of Teddy Pendergrass' Come On And Go With Me, Nelly shows exactly why he can compete in both hip-hop and R'n'B arenas. Following on from where Dilemma left off, the slow grooves assisted by the able Jaheim indicate that Suit might be the album to pick come 13 September.
