In a recent episode of Coronation Street, troubled teenager David Platt recently ignored a telling off from his mother and turned up his stereo instead. What was he listening to? Why, Nine Black Alps of course - thus confirming the Mancunians as the disaffected teenager's band of choice.
It says a lot for Nine Black Alps that, just over 6 months after their debut single, they already sound like old friends. This is the usual melodic pop gem wrapped up in a loud wave of noise - the cacophonous guitars can't hide the sheer pop sensibility behind that immensely catchy chorus - and like all good rock songs, it's over after just 2 minutes, leaving you begging for more.
The only negative point is that it's the fourth single from their debut album, and presumably everyone who wants this now will have already shed out for Everything Is - no matter though, Just Friends is another example of the band's way with an anthem and will no doubt be listened to in Weatherfield and beyond.
