Nestling behind a lovely sleeve design by Antony Gormley, Distant Dreams is a perfect taster of the delights to be found on London Undersound, the recent album from which it is taken.
Aided by Roxanne Tataei's luxurious vocals, the song dances and weaves through a rich mix of influences on both a radio edit and a club remix by Witty Boy. The first is sensuous and luxurious, full of warm North African rythmns with a lyrical style worthy of a James Bond theme trying to seduce The Last Shadow Puppets.
The club mix is speeded up, fragmented and frantic, the sound of the mad commute home before you relax with the red wine and chocolates you deserve when you get there. The two versions complement and enhance each other. One makes you want to dance, the other to relax back on comfortable cushions with a big smile on your face. A pretty good package, all told.
