Nitin Sawhney - definite talent and industry recognition but very little mainstream success. There's an unknowing enigma surrounding the guy but his music has very little appeal to the main record-buying demographic.
If ever there was an incentive to buy a single here it is - six tracks! Okay, so it is six remixes of the same song but each version of Rainfall has its own unique charm. The soothing lyrics and ambience of the song hold strong in each, be it with the bhangra beats of Rishi Rich or the UK hip-hop provided by Wookie.
Those are just two takes on Rainfall, but all the remixes somehow manage to capture the chilled out and "ethnic" vibe of the original song. The single has an appeal that will embrace almost all musical tastes. Yet crucially there's nothing here for the teenage girls who fuel single sales.
