Supposedly, seeing The Noisettes live is quite the experience. If the repeated accolades for lead singer Shingai Shoniwa's hyper-caffeinated performances are to be believed, merely listening to the London trio be doing them a huge injustice.

However, if Don't Give Up is anything to go by, it may be possible to catch them live in the comfort of your own home. A psychedelic and spunky mission statement, the track is a marvellously eclectic blend of funk, thrash and Motown. As unbelievable as it may sound, Shoniwa's voice is Karen O, Billie Holliday, Macy Gray and Grace Jones in equal parts. Whereas Samara (the hairy thing from The Ring) takes her sweet time crawling out of your TV set, Shoniwa rips through your speakers at breakneck speed. The rocking guitar riffs provide the perfect accompaniment to her schizophrenic performance, which can only be described as a mixed bag of crazy howling, even crazier howling and seductive purring.

Definitely one to watch in 2007. But when you're hand-picked by Muse to undertake supporting duties, did anyone expect anything less?
