You know that moment in The X Factor where a potential contestant tells us a tragic, tear-jerking story, then looks plaintively into the middle-distance and whispers "I just want to sing...that's all I've ever wanted to do", and then either Snow Patrol or Coldplay swells up on the soundtrack? Well, by the sounds of this, the Gallagher brothers are looking for some extra royalties for between August and December next year.
I'm Outta Time is a Liam-penned number, and proves that he's come on leaps and bounds from the horrors of Little James. It has tender piano chords, a lovely yearning chorus, and a melody that sways softly while Liam turns in one of his more affecting vocal performances.
Yet like most of Oasis' material, while it's pretty good, it's tempered by the knowledge that they can do so much better. There's also a sample of John Lennon's last ever radio interview in the last few moments, which really does turn Noel's Beatles obsession into something approaching self-parody.
