Being "down" with hip hop's unholy trinity - 50 Cent, Eminem and Dr. Dre - can act as either an absolute blessing or a tremendous burden. Obie Trice, it would seem, has it made. He's got the support of the hard core crew. One would think all he has to do it kick back and relax as his single shoots straight to the top ten. But in reality, the man is simply outshone by his mentors and his single falls slightly short of the mark.
It is interesting to note that Obie approaches rap in a way which is still considered refreshing. Rather than singing about his "nasty bitches" or the "bling bling party" he's off to, the content of his track displays a wicked sense of humour and does showcase his above average ability as an emcee.
If you've liked the music Shady Records has put out there in the past, then you're going to lap up the label's latest offering. Personally, I won't be rushing out to buy the album tho.
