Official Secrets Act - Victoria

Look behind the perky piano and stiff drums of Victoria, the second single from Trans-Pennine alliance Official Secrets Act, and you find a rather less affirming tale.

"At last my mind is made up, and in the morning I'll betray you. We will have to tell the children something when we get back from school", sings Thomas Charge Burke. It's a piece of barbed Romanticism, delivered with impressive feeling and a keen sense of storytelling.

The jerky mannerisms of the music might not be to all tastes, mind, but if you have a thing for the Futureheads then this might well get you going. If not, then the lyrical play of B-side stomp-along Sell Sell Sell should clinch the deal.
