Newcomer One Night Only is clap-your-hands friendly bubble-pop: catchy little kittens but without sharp enough claws to make a long-lasting impact. Mind you, their rowdy York fans might disagree.

The Hemsley-based group has already charmed the young indie crowd. Bear in mind they are a pretty bunch, but even brooding brown eyes and sleek hips need more then breezy songs to captivate the masses. The dance friendly single You And Me, about being happy and good times, is sweet and the guitar riffs that intercept the song are entertaining. If solid and cute is what you are after then look no further.

"People say I creep you out, no understanding, no cash in hand" sings frontman George Craig, and there is a naivety and boyish shyness that is dearly sweet but easily forgotten. Vertigo picked up on the tight and engaging sound and I bet their good looks didn't slow down the process. The album is set to be released next year and they are currently supporting Pigeon Detectives and The Rifles on their UK tour.

The kittens' claws may be harmless but they're dead cute and hard to stay away from. Meeow!
