The Open - Just Want To Live (Polydor)
release date: 21 June 2004
The Open - Just Want To Live

After the release of sell-out single Close my Eyes, Just Want To Live was more likely to rival the former's success rather then exceed it. With NME and The Guardian hot on their heels, The Open have already received rave reviews for their previous single and sound as a whole.

Following in the footsteps of the long list of Brit Indie / alternative rock bands (The Doves, Radiohead, Snow Patrol... need I go on?), The Open, honestly, are nothing special. Harsh as it may seem, they attempt to imitate Radiohead but disguise this by being far too upbeat, and step away from the other bands with their incorporation of keyboards.

Don't get me wrong, Just Want To Live is a good song to listen to and possibly buy but with all these bands (excluding the divine work of Radiohead) releasing what appears to be the same material, it would be hard to distinguish which song was sung by The Open.
