Patronage from The Libertines will only get you so far, something The Others will vouch strongly for. As soon as the public realise that you're no good, they'll stop buying your records and stop coming to your shows. The fact remains - there is no substitute for hard work and strong material.
However, you'd be ill advised not to give The Paddingtons a shot on this basis - yes, they've supported Pete and Carl in the past. And yes, they're signed to Alan McGhee's Poptones label - but give this song a few listens, and you'll be hard pushed not to embrace it with both hands.
Panic Attack is a simple, three and a half minute garage rock assault with a catchy slow-fast riff and simple but effective lyrics ("You wanna die don't you, go on commit suicide!" is the one that sticks in the memory). It's hardly anything revolutionary, but as far as its genre goes, it's up there with the very best. We should be hearing a lot more from Hull's best new band in the future.
