Lots of industry money is being spent on Palladium, for one very good reason: they are very, very good. Dressed in lilac knitwear and pearls (them, not us) this was apparent from the moment they graced the BBC Presents... stage at Bestival some months back but, in case you've forgotten or weren't there, take this single as a reminder.
High 5 is catchy, and original enough to please while never straying even remotely far away from being so chart friendly it's offering up its pocket money before you even have to give it a mildly threatening look.
Over the summer, they've been supporting Amy Winehouse, Mystery Jets and Mika, none of whom really give you an indication of what they sound like. Palladium are better than all of them. Laden with distinctive vocals, soaring guitars, drums and keyboards, rather silly lyrics and unbearable catchiness, they certainly deserve great things. Imagine Jake Shilingford fronting Busted in an alternate universe where this is a good thing and you'll be on the right track. We will be proved right in the end, just wait and see.
