Mind versus body is a rather common topic for lovelorn pop tunes. Paramore are fully aware of this, which is apparent as much in their latest single as it is in their band name.

The rock-pop band with roots in Tennessee showcase strong contrasts in That's What You Get. Straightforward pop vocals from the grrl rock, Avril Lavigne-inspired Hayley Williams are backed by a layer of modern rock guitars, a poppy rock drumbeat, and some indie-tinged lead guitar parts.

For the most part, the track plods along down a normal modern rock-pop path, but there are moments of uninspired syncopation that try to bring a much-needed energy to the song. There is not a great amount of originality here, but the song does succeed in distinguishing itself from standard rock-pop tunes.

Paramore are supported by an appropriate label - Fueled By Ramen, started by a member of ska-punk band Less Than Jake, has taken interest in everything from the emo rock of Jimmy Eat World to newer mainstream groups like Fall Out Boy and Panic At The Disco. And with a little development, including some work on lyric writing (the song doesn't really explain what it is exactly that you get when "you let your heart win"), Paramore could see a bright future by bringing out its more diverse elements.
