A Place That Glows begins with swirling atmospherics and psychedelic guitars waiting to be flattened by a formidable Cooper Temple Clause-esque rhythm section. But despite its almost instantly likeable character, there seem to be a few fundamental flaws to Parisman's sound.

Most notably, perhaps, the vocal delivery lacks any real conviction, and you can't help but think that the singer isn't really connecting with the song. What's more, the realization that his voice is a dead ringer for Sting is a disturbing one that takes the focus off the music, only exacerbating matters.

A Place That Glows builds as it progresses until it erupts in a shower of sonic fury as guitars soar to heights they only dreamed of two minutes previously, and that rhythm section persists in its relentless pounding. But Parisman are not really doing anything new, and seem to be trying to mimic the rock escapism of bands before them. This, in theory, is fine, but when you consider that by doing this, Parisman are choosing heavyweights such as The Cooper Temple Clause and The Boxer Rebellion as their direct rivals, problems could occur.
