For the first few bars of If You Wanna, the hotly-tipped Perthshire fivesome's first single on Jeepster, you could be forgiven for thinking you were listening to the Kaiser Chiefs in I Predict A Riot mode.
As the song settles down though you realise they're a good bit less jerky and a lot more poppy as the band invite you to take a chance and lose all your worries tonight. Not profound, but perfectly danceable. You can imagine the "woooh whoa whoh" chorus being belted out by a drunk and somewhat stumbling dance floor, while the ticking, tense guitar line gives it an edge.
Whooping seems to figure large in the Parka canon. The b-side, Hoxton Hair, which nibbles rather than snaps at the pretentious of youth, is peppered with Bluresque ‘woo-hoo’s and offers another very join-in-able chorus for crowds to chant.
