Mike Rosenburg was previously known as the lead singer in the rather obviously titled Mike Rosenburg Band, who kind of appeared, floated around for a bit, and then disappeared without leaving any discernable impression on anyone. Now they've renamed themselves Passenger, and they sound like what they are: a band reborn and re-energised.

Rosenburg's voice is the very dictionary definition of idiosyncratic, and his cracked falsetto won't be to everyone's taste. But if you can see past this, Do What You Like is a rather lovely debut single. Rosenburg's voice is perfect as it's a tale of unrequited love, with all the passion, insecurity and self-loathing which that brings. "I give you my all, but you give nothing to me" wails Rosenburg, and there'll be more than a few people out there readily identifying with those sentiments.

And like all the best pop songs, these lyrics of misery and hurt are married to a instantly catchy melody that literally skips along with handclaps, slide guitar and '80s style synths. All rather excellent in fact, and this could well be second time lucky for Mike Rosenburg.
