The People's Revolutionary Choir - Do You Feel Like I Do? (Weekender)
UK release date: 8 October 2007
That the seeds for The People's Revolutionary Choir were sewn in a "house for waifs and strays" renders their story an interesting one. This London sextet have already developed a solid following on the underground scene, with Serj Kasabian singing the band's praises.
Do You Feel Like I Do? is TPRC's latest release. Beginning with a Charlatans-esque organ and Stone Roses guitar jangling, the door is open for some Beatles inspired vocal delivery from the lazy/drunk/other planet sounding Lal Townsend. What follows is four and a half minutes of beautifully crafted, hazy pop music that paints a picture that you want to fall into.
What's beautiful about this band is the languidness of it all. Everything's lazy and gloopy, and drips like honey. Nobody's going to rush this band as they float from one bar to the next - as evidenced by b-side Painkiller Blues. These are melodies to fall in love with.
