Following in the footsteps of fellow Scandanavian indie-poppers such as the Shout Out Louds, The Wannadies and The Cardigans, Stockholm trio Peter Bjorn And John effortlessly manage to create that trademark Swedish sound of being wistfully melancholic and gorgeously uplifting all at the same time.
Opening with a whistling refrain that is bound to haunt your dreams through the remainder of the summer, this slowly develops into a dreamy slice of guitar pop. All manner of percussion livens up the backing track, while Victoria Bergsman, recently departed from fellow Swedes The Concretes, duets with Peter on a touching tale of the first rush of a new love affair ("if you my story word for word, had all of my history, would you go along with somebody like me?")
The singles that will end up defining Summer 2006 had already been snapped up by Gnarls Barkley and Lily Allen - here's another one to join them.
