Growing Up is an unexciting but undeniably clever song from Mr Gabriel, which will be enjoyed by fans of his last two albums.

It describes the path of life from a spiritual and psychological viewpoint, and is lifted by Gabriel's angelic instrumentation and song-structure talents.

But in the end it's a song built around lyrics and sustained by structure - a lot of effort for what is, in reality, a mediocre tune.
