There was a time, and I'm sure I'm not romanticising the past here, that samples were used with consummate skill and a deft touch. More often than not they simply added to the feel of a song (check out the Bomb Squad's use of the JB's horn section to bring the noise) or where they created the bedrock of a tune they were at least used sparingly.

Peter Gelderblom has gone a step further. A mere two second sample is not enough for him; he's just taken an entire tune and stuck a drum beat to it. In this case Waiting 4 sticks a passable dance beat to Red Hot Chili Peppers' hit By The Way. The effort required to create this song must have been simply staggering. In contrast the Great Wall of China and the Pyramids look like child's play. This is a lazy, cynical worthless piece of junk. There is no merit to this whatsoever. It isn't even a good dance record. You have to ask yourself, what is the point? It's like copying someone's homework, or getting you dad to write it for you.

Buy this and fund a man who can't even be bothered to write his own tunes. Don't think we're not keeping our eye on you either Eric Prydz, we know what you're up to. For now though Mr Gelderblom we're waiting 4 you in a dark alley.
