Pilote - By The River

Someone's groaning in the distance, singsong, back and forth... they live by a river in a hut... has the record started yet?

Pilote is Stuart Cullen who writes, sings, and composes (on his computer by the sounds of it) as well as gathering up odd samples and fiddling with them. By The River is an intensely repetitive track recorded to sound like it's being played in another room on a bad stereo, over which tinny electronic loops are introduced.

The repeated vocal clip sound very distanced, and weirdly the backing vocals sound like they're provided by Donald Duck's sister. B-side Coltrane is a whispery conversation over chilled synths and clattery electronic beats. All in all not a package that draws you in immediately, but repeated listens produce a hypnotic effect.
