I really want to like them. I like the idea of the all-female, wonky, synth-pop four-piece (who wouldn't?), I like their style, I bloody love their name, I quite fancy half of them, but the crushing realisation is that UFO is a bit bad.

The synth-lines work really well, the basslines are disco-esque, but if the verse ignites the engines, the chorus fails to take off. The vocals of Mollie Kingsley feel like they're aiming at Debbie Harry, but fall short of the mark with unimaginative melodies, and a lack of enthusiasm that sounds less 'dead cool', and more 'dead bored', which makes her lyrics un-engaging.

The faux-Cockney accent compounds the problem. But PATJ are a young band, still finding their sound, and these problems can be fixed. Hopefully, UFO is just an initial hiccup, a momentary blunder that slipped through the fishnets, because with a name as devastatingly cool as Poppy And The Jezebels, they're halfway to brilliance.
