As a heads-up for the release of Their Law: The Singles 1990-2005, Liam Howlett and his Prodigy outfit are pushing this double A side CD single of classic Prodigy tracks remixed.
Voodoo People, one of Prodigy's very best tracks, is the definition of anthemic. Wild beats, killer synth riff, reggae sample interlude, hyper vocals. And it was fast. The original track has here been updated by Pendulum, who loosen it up a little while keeping the bass pumping and that riff completely integral, and it's just about as infectious as the original.
Less successful is Audio Bullys' remake of Out Of Space into something rather slower, lacking in energy and, frankly, dull. It sounds like Prodigy have headed to Eastbourne to put their feet up while considering a vista of a drizzly English Channel.
Happily, the original versions of both tracks are included on The Singles as well as these interpretations.
