Thanks in no small part to the seemingly unstoppable rise of The Killers, that has already seen them become bigger than Jesus on the back of just one album, it seems the 80s new-wave resurrection is in danger of outliving the period it's ripping-off, excuse me, imitating, pardon me, pleasingly re-birthing for a new generation. At least, so hope London synth-n-guitar five piece Protocol.

Because She Waits For Me sounds like The Bravery, who sound like The Killers who sound like Duran Duran who sound like, well, you get the idea. It isn't a bad copy, or copy of a copy of a copy of a copy, but it lacks, as you may expect, any originality.

The sole thing different here is the injection of some good old-fashioned run-of-the-mill lyrical banalities into their fourth-hand glitzy synthesized swishes. No girlfriends who look like boyfriends for these guys, oh no, just some whining about "Who made the bed while you were in the shower?" Domestic confrontation, it's the new rock'n'roll...
