If Pull Tiger Tail released this single about 5 years ago, I would have liked it. I would have heralded it as something a bit fresh, new and interesting. I would have searched for their records and maybe even gone to one or two of their gigs.
As it stands, however, I've heard this all before. The Rapture started making this kind of music years ago, and even then it was fresher than this. Pull Tiger Tail stand next to a long line of imitators, such as Ok Go and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah!
The thing is, their new single, Mr 100 Percent isn't a bad song. The problem is, it's in no way a good song, just spiky guitars, rehashed melody lines we've heard a hundred times before, all rolled into one jumping-on-the-bandwagon digestible package.
Maybe I'm being a little harsh on Pull Tiger Tail, its not a terrible single and, because of the similarities to other bands, I'm sure they will find a fan base and people to buy their music. However, they are scoring no points in the originality stakes and they're going to have to produce something with a bit more panache if they want to make a dent on the musical landscape of today.
