Morrissey once sang of knowing how Joan of Arc felt. I don't think it's something that would have ever crossed the minds of the Pussycat Dolls. I guess the death of Andrea Dworkin in April this year passed them by. Do they think Simone de Beauvoir is a fancy French restaurant? I wouldn't know. The lyrics to StickwitU don't seem to suggest that the Dolls are keen followers of feminist thought.

Against a sickly smooth backing they coo out platitudes to domestic bliss: the strings sigh, the beats slide, and I struggle to stay awake. Think one of those dreadful Spice Girls ballads. And it's such an odd lyric: The dolls seem to be settling for some kind of sterile state of relationship harmony. They seem to be more than willing to StickwitU because; "Nobody gonna love me better / You know how to 'preciate me."

Nothing about how they feel, if the love moves them, if they love Mr Right, if he inspires them, makes their hearts beat faster. In fact, nothing at all about how they feel - we are left none the wiser. Come on ladies, stand up and be counted - don't be Stepford Wives.
