Reading has become something of a musical hotbed recently, with bands like Pure Reason Revolution, Morning Runner and now The Race all creating a bit of a stir.

You may well have had your fill of uplifting, anthemic guitar songs, but if you ignored The Race it would be your loss. Amersham Road may be both anthemic and uplifting but it's shot through with a real confidence which makes it hard to believe this is only their second single. The repeated refrain of "you are incredible...but you don't know it" during the frenzied climax is likely to stick in the mind for some time.

Hope Song is equally as impressive, combining the melancholic brooding of The Cure with the big epic sound of Muse. Look out for The Race - despite the rather uninspiring name, they're set to be rather massive.
