A previous Rachel Stevens' single Some Girls reminds me of an ex-girlfriend who shall remain nameless. Negotiate With Love, written and produced by Anders Wollbeck and Mattias Lindblom, reminds me of a more recent ex-girlfriend who I'll also leave anonymous. But what a catch she was - shame I screwed it up in the first few weeks. We had quite a few "negotiations" about love, but she dumped me in the end, for many of the reasons Rachel mentions here.

Memories aside, Negotiate is a catchy piece - cut-dead lyrics, an electro-verse with melody that moves minimally and roughly follows its own chords, followed up with a contrasting chorus, highly harmonious with a wildly ranging melody. Jubbly.

Although it's not quite a Sweet Dreams My LA Ex or Some Girls, it's still a pleasure to listen to. If this is typical of the quality of her up and coming tracks, then I'll be first in line to buy the new Rachel Stevens album.
