I've always taken Radio 4 to be a bit of a second rate Rapture, sans cowbell, and while this single doesn't put any distance between their respective musical stylings it is enormously good fun.
State Of Alert is another of those punky, rock-disco crossovers from New York, complete with huge baggy grooves, spiked riffs and clipped, urgent sounding vocals and, despite a recent abundance of that type of thing, is well worth a listen.
However, despite the rabble-rousing title, militant cover-art and abundance of nervous energy, it's a bit of a political tease: it gets you all riled up, then doesn't actually go anywhere. Except maybe to the nearest dance floor to shake it like a loon. But you can't really criticise it for that; there's a time and a place for boring, preachy, political sermonizing, and there's a time and a place to forget everything and party hard. State Of Alert is very much a proponent of the latter.
