It's a bit of a wonder as to why Raghav isn't really more famous outside circles of those in the know musically and the Asian community, considering he's had four top 20 singles and a MOBO award. It's fairly inexplicable beyond the fact that the 23 year old Indian/Canadian/Brit has been performing to a bit of a niche market.
Yet we all know it takes just one big track to change everything and turn a relative unknown into a household name. Angel Eyes could just be that track, based around Chaka Demus and Pliers' Murder She Wrote dancehall rhythm (or "riddim", depending on how authentic you want to be) - it's a unique track.
While unique doesn't equate to fantastic, Raghav's soft vocals draw instant comparisons to Jay Sean, which is a bit of a compliment. It is an unequivocally upbeat track and its strength is in the crossover from ragga to R'n'B with a bit of Hindi thrown in for good measure. This may be the making of the man, but for the listener it's just a bit of fun.
