Mancunian trio The Rain Band are very much in that city's rich musical heritage. Taking in both Doves' epic sound and New Order's dance experimentation, Knee Deep And Down is a fine single.

Richard Nancollis' vocals even remind one of Ian Brown but don't write off The Rain Band as hopelessly derivative. There's a freshness and vitality about them that is perfectly showcased on this moody number.

With some radical remixes as well, from Richard H Kirk amongst others, there's something for everybody here. Ones to watch.
