Mr Kiedis and his merry men have come a long way since their humble beginnings as a mob of funk / punk misfits back in the '80s and have, with numerous albums behind them, undoubtedly
earned their place in the rock 'n' roll hall of fame.
Call me a purist, but for what looks like their last single, Fortune Faded just doesn't do the Chilis justice. Sounding more like a B-side than a smash hit, it lies somewhere between the contagious melodies of Californication and the
funkiness of the Blood, Sugar era, without capturing the essence of either. None the less, as is commonplace for legends, I'm sure
it will be championed by MTV and radio as the best winter warmer around.
As for fortunes fading, with a greatest hits package on the way including a video DVD, I'd say that the quartet with a proclivity for nakedness are streaking all the way to the bank.
