Red Organ Serpent Sound - In Search Of Orgasmuz (Vertigo)
UK release date: 26 September 2005
Northern Ireland's bizarrely named Red Organ Serpent Sound have a reputation as a stunning live act already, thanks in part to singer Rory Moore's penchant for top hats and red balaclavas, along with their own brand of retro-psychedelic musical mayhem. It's perfect fodder for Vertigo - for whom this is single number one - the coyly titled In Search Of Orgasmuz.
To sum it up, it's a groovy psyche-garage number with its heart firmly in 1970 hidden somewhere down Austin Powers' trouser legs. It's both great and a little forgettable at the same time, but that's debut singles for you - it's a "hello, notice us!" sort of song with attitude - a bit like what The Dwarves might have done if they'd remained a garage band. The sort of sing-along first single that closes every gig once the band are famous - and there's no doubt that's what ROSS and Vertigo are hoping for.
And do we find Orgasmuz? Well not yet, but it's still fun. Let's see what else the Red Organ Serpent Sound have up their sleeves in the coming months.
