Golden Boys is the debut UK single release for 23-year-old rising star Res. The first track from her excellent debut album How I Do, it showcases Res' talent for mixing and matching genres, taking coffee lounge jazz a la Erykah Badu and stamping drum'n'bass to it to create something finely unique. Classically trained, Philadelphia-born Res has already supported May J Blige on tour in the US.
Don't assume this downtempo single to be entirely representative of the album. It's a good song, but there's plenty more where that came from.
It's also worth getting for the Romain Tranchart club remix, Golden Boys can be taken any way you fancy. Get hold of it and hear a major new talent.
