Ah The Rifles. You remember them - slightly Mod-like, sounded like a new version of The Jam, or The Clash, or The Libertines....Soccer AM loved them and were forever namechecking them....what do you mean, that could be a multitude of different bands?

The problem with The Rifles is that they sound almost exactly like every other band in this kind of genre. There's the opening staccato guitar that could be Razorlight's Golden Touch, there's the singalong chorus straight from The Enemy's songbook, and the horrible, soul-crushing feeling that this could have been released a few years ago and absolutely no progress or evolution has happened in the world of The Rifles.

It's all just very 'meh' to coin a phrase. If you're 13 years old and have never heard The Jam before, this could well be the greatest song ever made. Sadly, us boring old farts have heard it so many times before and it has to be a lot better than this to be even slightly memorable.
