Misunderstood is the second new single from Robbie's recent Greatest Hits collection, but is a far cry from the style of the first release, Radio. This time around we see Robbie in familiar territory, wallowing in the pits of his own self-pity, and a good job he does too.
It has sure signs of an attempt to recreate what Angels did back in 1997, only this time round, Mr Williams doesn't have Guy Chambers by his side, and there's no threat of being dropped from his record label for not charting highly enough.
Released to coincide with the second Bridget Jones movie, the single, along with many more to follow, will be useful to see whether or not Robbie can write great pop music without the many years of assistance from Guy Chambers. In this instance Misunderstood is a borderline effort at a heartbreaking ballad to himself, Mr Misunderstood.
