Robots In Disguise are the electro girls from The Mighty Boosh. They're annoying in that, and it's funny. What of their musical career? They're annoying, and it's really not funny. At all. Not one iota.
The Sex Has Made Me Stupid sounds wicked - for about five seconds. A twangtastic Yeah Yeah Yeah's style guitar riff salutes a bone-shaking drum loop and beefy little synths. From then on it sounds like dodgy euro pop - hell - it sounds like it should be in the Eurovision Song Contest. And I'm not talking about the good shit either (you know what I mean), we're talking bad eastern European dance floor pop gone wrong.
Lyrically the song is centred around the things that have made the duo stupid, like: sex; tequila; the world; me; forever; whatever; we (or wee). The melody will annoy the fuck out of you. The stupid howling vocals will annoy the fuck out of you. I just don't know how this was a good idea. They think they're scenesters, and scores will jump on the 'oh-shit-it's-another-London-band-that-think-they're-electro-I'd-better-don-my-skinny-jeans-and-proclaim-their-excellence' bandwagon. Maybe I'm missing something - but in my opinion this is odds on the worst single you'll hear released this year. Or ever. The sex has made you stupid? Bloody right it has.
