The Rogers Sisters - Never Learn To Cry (Too Pure)

The Rogers Sisters are a guitar, bass, drums trio from Brooklyn, New York fronted by Jennifer Rogers. Her voice has a tinge of Debbie Harry to it, but is fundamentally intensely aggravating - she sounds like she's about ten years old. She should be signing in the school choir, not fronting a rock band.
The New York trio are another garage rock band trying break themselves into the musical elite. On the evidence of Never Learn To Cry, however, they'll have a tough time of living up to their ambitions. The song is strange in as much as that it has isolated elements of greatness, the rhythmical intro, the spiky guitar riffery, but in totality it just sounds a bit overwhelming, and a bit naff.
It's as if The Rogers Sisters have tried too hard to force clever musical ideas into a song that neither suits nor needs them. B-Side The Clock is what you'd play someone if you had to define 'awful' via the medium of song alone. The Rogers Sisters need to calm down, tone the music down a bit, and they'll be fine. Oh yeah, get a new singer too.
