Ronan Keating feat Yusuf - Father And Son (Polydor)
UK release date: 13 December 2004
The duet they said could never happen (or if they did I never heard 'em). Big
Ron and Yusuf "Dude, Where's My Green Card" Islam get together as the father and
son of pop. If this ditty sounds familiar, that's because Ronan, the housewives
choice, sang it with his Boyzone Gang a few years back. But then you knew
that didn't you?
Anyway, none-believers, this is actually a much better stab than The 'Zone's
attempt. Ron's tendency to sing like the schoolteacher in the TV version of
Peanuts is less in evidence here, and Yusuf fits the song so well you'd swear
he'd written it himself. Oh, he did.
Still, as the Boyzone boys have disappeared into (variously) the West End,
Weatherfield, or building work (probably), its up to Ron to front-up Uncle Sam
and yell that morning has broken, the Cat is back, and that the ol' peace
train's soundin' louder so you better let him in. Next up - Gareth Gates joins MC5 for Kick Out The Jams.
