Roni Size feat Beverley Knight & Dynamite MC - No More (V)

Drum and bass maestro Roni Size released his LP, Return To V, last October and the general consensus was while critics were bored, fans adored. Indeed, Size has consistently packed out venues during his recent tours as dnb musos displayed no signs of waning interest in him and entourage. Even so, the music press' reaction was decidedly lukewarm.
This single, taken from Return To V, features soulstress Beverley Knight and Size's stalwart sidekick MC Dynamite, and it offers a mixed bag. The tune is cool, the beats pump and there's no doubt that the tune will pack club dance floors heaving. Knight's voice is, of course, class with its heavy RnB flava.
However, given Size's artistry and creative flair as witnessed in his debut LP New Forms, one always wishes for a return to the magic of creativity and the supreme inventiveness of that debut which is simply lacking in this single. There is little of the 'wow' factor, and although the single oozes production and smooth flair, there is little to aspire to.
