Let's face it, escapism is what most good pop music is all about. Bruce Springsteen sang about riding away from his hometown to seek better and bigger things, and Devon trio The Rumble Strips continue this tradition with Motorcycle, a re-recording of their debut single.
Charlie Waller sings of imagining his humble bike was a motorcycle, speeding through the city streets instead of peddling at a snail's pace, while all manner of brass instrumentation cause havoc in the background. It's shot through with such stomping joie de vivre that it's impossible to dislike, even if Waller's falsetto hi-jinks at the end of the song make you wonder about the tightness of his underwear.
It does all threaten to go a bit Joboxers in the middle section, but second time round this could well see The Rumble Strips hit the big time.
