It is indeed a dirty business being the new female vocalist on the
block. All those hushed, breathy vocals to perfect, best executed after a
ten mile run by the sound of it, and those suggestive lyrics to do justice
with, courtesy of ex-Alisha's Attic member Karen Poole.
Forgive me if I sound a tad cynical, but this has all been done before
in abundance. However, it's also fair to say plenty of people have done it
much worse than Sara Jorge, who has a nice, cutesy pop voice when she sings
up a bit, and also has the backing of a decent tune.
The radio edit is actually the least effective of the many mixes on
offer - best to head for the club reworkings that come from the Sharp
Boys and Bomba, whose kick beats are reassuringly solid, leading
to a piano riff with some nice samba inflections. Despite my early
misgivings, a decent release.
