On paper, this can't fail. Scarlett Johansson breathing her way through a song written by one of the bona fide legends of modern music, backed by yet another musical legend, and all produced by one of the hottest producers around today, TV On The Radio's Dave Sitek.

However, fail it does - and very badly. The main problem is that Scarlett, while undoubtedly a fine actress and possibly one of the best looking women in the world, just cannot sing. She drones her way through the Tom Waits penned number, while Sitek layers level after level of distortion over the top, presumably in an attempt to distract from Johansson's vocals.

Even the presence of David Bowie on backing vocals cannot save it. It really doesn't bode well for her forthcoming album, a collection of Waits song reinterpreted by the film star. Scarlett - please, please, please do not give up the day job.
