Scout Niblett has popped up on many a notable MySpace "influence" list of late.
Niblett's been about for a while, and listening to Dinosaur Egg and its B-side Just Do It you can see why she's made waves. Dinosaur Egg is a piece of charming lyrical musing on one person's hope that an unhatched egg will bring forth miracles and allay a tortured soul, creeping along with a smile and a ribbon and a bucket full of genuine pathos.
Niblett's a tortured spirit with a sense of humour, yielding moments of deep emotion and alternate light-hearted moments, and B-side Just Do It is great too, Scout's voice, elfin-like, bobbing dreamily on the flimsiest of acoustic lines before the song bursts into a subtle rush of electrics and yhelps to make you jump on the ceiling. For anyone who's not delved before, Scout's back catalogue is there for the picking.
