From the hotbed of talent that is, erm, Nottingham,
comes exciting six-piece Seachange. Glitterball is their first release for Matador and it isn't too hard to see exactly why the record company was so keen to add them to its roster.
Glitterball is one of the best songs to come
out of the British rock scene this year. Its garage rock sound is somewhat
reminiscent to The Strokes, but the vocals are distinctively
un-American. Thankfully. Ozzy Osbourne said a few years back that
everyone sings with an American accent because that's what people want to
hear. Well he was wrong.
The other three tracks on the EP aren't
as spectacular as Glitterball but they're enough to make the prospect of
Seachange's forthcoming album that bit more tantalising. This lot could go
far, just watch this space.
